FRENCHMAN Jean-François Lucquin, runner-up of last year’s Maybank Malaysian Open, conducted a golf clinic in Shah Alam on Monday for business partners of power company Alstom in Malaysia and members of the media.
During the two-hour clinic at Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, the 29-year-old Lucquin gave valuable tips and shared some of his experiences on the European Tour.
He is competing in this year’s Maybank Malaysian Open at Kota Permai Golf Club from March 6 to 9, and is expected to do well.
In 2006 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, the French ace finished 13th. He came close to winning the title last year at Saujana Golf & Country Club, finishing one stroke behind champion Peter Hedblom of Sweden.
Known as “Jeff” to his family and friends, Lucquin started playing golf at age 12 and won the 1994 French Junior Championship. He turned professional in 1997.
Said Saji Raghavan, country president of Alstom Power Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd: “Alstom sees golf as a shared platform with its business partners globally. We want local golf to mirror the continued development of Alstom in Malaysia.”
Alstom has been sponsoring Lucquin since 2005 and is also the main sponsor of the European Tour's Open de France.
