VISITORS to the Malaysia Travel Fair (MATF) will have the chance to enjoy attractive travel packages from 26 participating agencies and organisations.
The fair, which will be held from Feb 22 to 24 at the Penang International Sports Arena (Pisa), will feature 130 booths set up by Malaysia Airlines (MAS), Firefly, Celcom, Telekom Malaysia, travel agencies and banks.
MAS will be offering discounts of up to 70% on its domestic and international routes to 60 destinations.
MAS northern region area manager Wan Mohd Ebrahem Wan Hasnan said the airline’s six million seats on offer were expected to be snapped up at the fair and at the airline’s various outlets nationwide.
“MATF offers that cover a seven-month travel period from March 1 to Sept 30 will also enable travellers to plan their trips,” he said at a press conference at Malaysia Airlines meeting room at Menara KWSP, Penang.
Besides attractive airfares, MAS will be offering special Golden Holiday packages, flights to new destinations like Macau and Yogyakarta and a ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ promotion on Business Class seats for routes to Asean cities, Xiamen, Kunming and Macau.
MAS’ subsidiaries Firefly and MASwings will be joining the fair for the first time.
Firefly will be offering 150,000 free seats (excluding taxes and surcharges) to all its destinations from Feb 25 to Oct 25.
However, its Penang hub manager Audrey Yu said those who could not go to the fair could still enjoy Firefly’s low rate fare through online bookings and the airline’s sales counters nationwide for packages to destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi.
Wan Mohd Ebrahem said 100,000 visitors were expected at the fair as it coincided with the Rukun Negara Carnival.
MATF will also be held concurrently at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Terengganu Trade Centre in Kuala Terengganu, Persada Johor Inter-national Convention Centre in Johor Baru, Sutera Harbour Resort Kota Kinabalu, Permata Exhibition Centre in Kuching, Wisma Sanyan in Sibu and Mega Hotel in Miri.
