Judges find entries creative and interesting

THE 50 short-listed entries for The Star's “Making Life Beautiful for Loved Ones'' contest have been described as interesting and creative by judges.

Winning entries have been determined and names will be published in Metro Central, Metro North and Metro South & East on Valentine's Day on Feb 14.

Lucrative prizes await the winners, sponsored by multi-label beauty retailer Hong Kong Sa Sa (M) Sdn Bhd, totalling RM30,850

Sa Sa business development manager Cheng Shea Li said she found the entries interesting as many of the photos sent in consisted of non-couples, which is not a norm for Valentine's Day.

“There were photos of girls in a group and also family members. It basically showed that Valentine's Day is about spending the day with people you care about, and not necessarily just boyfriends and girlfriends,” said Cheng during the judging session at Menara Star.

“What was interesting was that there was a good mix of different types of people of all races and ages.”

The Star had received 615 entries and only 50 were short-listed.

“For the first time, we are having picture entries and participants were given the option to either send them via MMS through their phone or submit online.

“Previously, it was more of text messages or submission of written messages by post.

“A lot more steps were required this time around so the number of entries we received this year is definitely encouraging,” said The Star advertising and business promotions general manager Calvin Kan, who was also one of the judges.

Cheng said two of the entries stood out in particular for her - one showing a couple where the man was somersaulting, and another of an old couple kissing.“

The grand prize winner will walk away with RM5,000 , RM5,000 in vouchers and a Sa Sa hamper worth RM2,500.
