A lot of things are going on at the Mid Valley Megamall in conjunction with the arrival of the Year of the Rat.
The megamall, which has chosen “A Striking New Year Celebration” as its Chinese New Year theme, will give shoppers the opportunity to watch the award-winning youth acrobatic troupe from ChangZhou performing.
The acrobatic shows will be held from Jan 30 to Feb 10 at 2pm and 8pm.
The 12-member troupe’s heart-stopping and gravity-defying stunts include contortion act, four-men balancing act and tuning of silk act.
Another coming attraction is the Acrobatic Lion Dance Showcase to be held at the Centre Court at noon on Feb 9 and 16.
The Megamall is bringing in the world-class Kun Seng Keng Lion and Dragon Dance Association for the exhilarating performances.
No less exciting is the Chinese Musical Performance where shoppers will be able to enliven their senses to the soothing sounds of Gu Zheng, Pi Pa, Er Hu and other Chinese musical instruments played by the professionals. Immerse yourself in the harmonious tunes at the Centre Court on Jan 25 and 29 and from Feb 12 to 17 at 3pm and 8pm.
Megamall has also set up a Chinese arts and crafts bazaar at the Centre Court and East Lobby, Ground Floor from tomorrow (Jan 23) to Feb 17.
Apart from being able to watch demonstration sessions by master craftsmen, this is a good place to buy festive decorations like Chinese calligraphy and paintings, silk embroidery, Chinese knotting art, stone art, paper cutting, oil painting, jade carving, bamboo wood carving, as well as coloured silk and cotton painting.
As Chinese New Year is also a season of thanksgiving, the Megamall is also organising a charity bazaar where lots of festive gifts are on sale – all for a good cause. All proceeds will go to charity.
The bazaar will take place at the West Lobby, Ground Floor from Jan 31 to Feb 3. Merchandise on sale are courtesy of tenants of the Megamall including Colours, Dzi Kingdom, Memory Lane, The Body Shop, Purple Cane, F.O.S, Women’s Secret, Axxezz, Sonic Power Station, Padini and many more.
