Group: Scrap coal-fired plant in Lahad Datu

KOTA KINABALU: A proposed coal-fired power plant in the east coast Lahad Datu district should be scrapped in favour of environment-friendly power generation methods as the state embraces the soon-to-be-launched Sabah Development Corridor (SDC).

Sabah Environmental Protection Association (Sepa) chairman Datuk Sussana Jayasuriya said among the key points of the SDC, to be launched by the Prime Minister on Jan 29, were sustainable development and an emphasis on protecting the environment.
