Portuguese descendents regarded as special minority group

MALACCA: Though they are a minority in the country, Portuguese descendants in Malacca have never been sidelined and instead recognised by the Government as a special minority group. 

The Portuguese Settlement in Ujong Pasir here stands testimony to this. The settlement covering an area of about 11.2ha has 118 homes occupied by about 1,200 members of the community and has all the facilities for a comfortable life.
