THE Kanthan Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple in Kanthan (north of Chemor), Perak, will celebrate the Hindu festival of Navarathri from tomorrow until Oct 22 with daily recitation of the Sanskrit text, Devi Mahatmyam, which is the scriptural text for Navarathri.
The Devi Mahatmyam details the story of the goddess Devi Mahishasura Mardhini and how she overcame the Buffalo Demon, Mahishasura after 10 days of combat.
