PLEAS for financial support by the action committee for former Felda Sungai Buaya settlers have not fallen on deaf ears within the Selangor state government.
Recently, Batang Kali assemblyman Datuk Zainal Abidin Sakom, Hulu Bernam assemblyman Datuk Mohamed Idris Abu Bakar, Hulu Selangor Land Office officer Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan and Hulu Selangor District Council president Tukiman Nail presented RM350 each in Duit Raya to the 363 settlers for their Hari Raya celebrations at the mosque in Kampung Sungai Buaya.
Action committee member Mohd Saleh Mohd Manip said he sent a letter to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo two months ago re-questing for money before the villagers celebrated Haru Raya.
Many of the settlers are senior citizens who do not have a steady income and some have to beg from their children.
As a settler myself, I saw joy in the faces of those people who received the money because they know they have some money for Hari Raya. This is the first time that the settlers in Bandar Sungai Buaya had received money for Hari Raya.
Dr Khir helped us and we are grateful for his support, said Mohd Saleh.
Zainal hoped the money would be useful for the coming celebrations.
The Government will build the RM70mil Sungai Buaya Inter-change and will help to develop the area, said Zainal.
Zainal also had a breaking fast ceremony with those who stayed behind after receiving the financial contributions.
