PENANG: Four suspected Uzbek prostitutes and a Singaporean customer were caught at a hotel in Macalister Road here.

George Town Deputy OCPD Supt Gan Kong Meng said the women, aged between 18 and 27, were nabbed at 10pm during an operation codenamed Ops Noda

“A check showed that the women, who charged up to RM300 per session, had entered the country as tourists a few weeks back.

“The Singaporean, a tourist in his 30s, was released after his particulars were noted down,” he told a press conference yesterday.

On Aug 19, six Uzbek prostitutes were also arrested at a hotel in Kinta Lane.

Supt Gan said police were going all out to rid the district of vice activities by conducting raids on karaoke lounges and health centres which were sometimes fronts for prostitution.
