WITHIN a few minutes, the flames engulfed the whole majestic frame of the 7.9m-high Tai Su Yah (King of Hades) effigy, marking the grand send-off of the deity after the half-month long Phor Thor (Hungry Ghost Festival) celebration organised by the Bukit Mertajam (main) Phor Thor committee.
Burnt together with the effigy were baskets and boxes of praying paraphernalia, including paper robes and boots for Tai Su Yah.
