TAN Sri Chong Kok Lim, a Hakka tin miner from Perak, built Sungei Wang Plaza in 1977.
It is believed that the late Chong made his fortune in the Kinta Valley, Perak, and moved to Kuala Lumpur to build two of the citys most enduring landmarks Sungei Wang Plaza and the former Regent (now Park Royal Hotel).
