THE state will consider establishing a Hall of Fame to pay tribute to all Penangites who had done Penang proud, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
Responding to a Malay daily’s suggestion of having a special gallery to exhibit things related to famous Penang-born figures, Koh said it was a good idea.
“This is a very good suggestion but first of all, we would need to identify a suitable location,” he told reporters re-cently.
The suggested Hall of Fame is to give re-cognition to famous Penangites such as shoe designer Jimmy Choo, World Squash Champion Nicol David, artistes Alleycats and composer Datuk Ahmad Nawab.
When contacted, state Tourism Develop-ment and Environment Committee chair-man Teng Chang Yeow said this would de-finitely be a good motivation to those who had brought glory to the state.
Agreeing that it was a good proposal, he added that with good planning, the hall could even be made into a new tourist attraction.
“However, we must make sure that it is unique and has something interesting to show to the visitors,” he said.
