RUMAH Aman in Shah Alam depends on the donations of individuals and businesses to operate.
According to founder Abdul Rehman Dakri, the home accom-modates 30 children, all boys aged four to eight, within its walls.
We are organising our first charity dinner to raise funds for the education of the children and to support daily operations, he said.
The Rumah Aman Charity Dinner will be held on April 13 at 8pm at the Concorde Hotel Shah Alam.
The dinner is set to be a colourful affair as singers Ramli Sarip and M. Nasir will entertain diners.
Diners will also be treated to a showcase of the latest busana muslimah wear by DReka Batik and models will also exhibit Carmonds jewellery pieces which will be up for sale, Abdul Rehman said.
He added that an auction would also be conducted for hand-woven carpets from Nasim Carpets.
Abdul Rehman added that Datin Paduka Rosmah Mansor, the wife of the deputy prime minister, would grace the event.
We are confident of selling all 50 tables to raise about RM500,000. We have already sold 20% of the tables and we want more Shah Alam residents to step forward and help.
Rumah Aman operates from its own premises at Section 2 and the children in the home are from Selangor, Perak and Kelantan, he said.
Tables for the dinner are priced from RM3,000 to RM50,000. Those interested can call Rumah Aman at 03-5519 0107.
