BUKIT MERTAJAM: Fourteen people, including two juveniles claimed trial at a magistrate’s court to attempting to cheat the public with a scratch-and-win contest.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at two different places and dates.
Kit Wa Sung, Yap Chin Leong, and Tan Lai Hsin, all 21, Fong Shi Lai, 25, B. Thevendren, 18, Tan Siew Khim, 28, Yap Chin Fee and Lee Lam Chong, both 24, and a 16-year-old girl were jointly charged yesterday with committing the offence at the Juru Rest and Recreation Area along the North-South Expressway, near here, at about 11.30am on March 17.
The other five - Irene Yeo Li Li, 30, Yap Chin Wei, 27, Chiar Phei Wen, 23, Chin Lei Keat, 31, and a 16-year-old girl – were also jointly charged in the same court for committing the same offence at Techligent Sdn Bhd at No 24 A, Jalan Prai Jaya, Prai, near here, at about 10.15am on March 19.
Magistrate Raja Shahril Anuar Raja Baniamin set a bail of RM8,000 each but reduced to RM4,000 after defence counsel, Ashok Athimulam, pleaded for a lesser amount. All posted the bail.
The court fixed Sept 28 for hearing.
