Metal thieves a bane to utility companies


METAL thieves who steal from high-voltage sub-stations risk electrocution for a measly loot worth an average RM13 for a kilogram of copper. 

Selangor Police Contingent Deputy officer chief crime investigation Asst Comm Chee Cheng Wan said the thieves were a bane to the utility companies as the thefts caused them to lose a few hundred thousand ringgit in repairs, new installation and loss of revenue.
