THE Pasir Pinji market in Ipoh will be upgraded for the second time this year.
It will have a walkway and new roof, Ipoh Timur MCA division chairman Datuk Chew Wai Khoon said.
He said the upgrading work was expected to begin between this month and April.
“The Federal Government has allocated RM200,000 to upgrade the market.
“A new walkway will be built to replace the old one which is in deplorable condition,” he said after presenting RM5,000 each to the building funds of SJK(C) Pasir Pinji (I) and (II) at the school premises in Ipoh recently.
SJK(C) Pasir Pinji (I) headmistress H. S. Tan thanked Chew and his deputy Thong Fah Chong for their contribution by Perak MCA, which would allow the school to have a new fence.
Last December, a huge tree had fallen during a rainstorm and crashed into the school fence at the back of SJK(C) Pasir Pinji.
“The impact destroyed that section of the fence and damaged the drain there. The money would help us pay for the new fence,” Tan added.
Also present were state MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau chief Tony Khoo, SJK(C) Pasir Pinji (I) board of director chairman Ng Lian Pin and SJK(C) Pasir Pinji (II) board of director chairman Leong Chee Onn.
