KUALA PENYU: Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government has proven itself to be a better champion of the people than the Opposition.
Citing Sabah as an example, she said the state was the third-largest recipient of allocations under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) at almost RM7bil after the Federal Territories and Selangor as the Government was sincere in its efforts to help the people of the state.
“Even the Kuala Penyu district has received various facilities and infrastructure on par with other districts in the state.
“Indeed, empty promises will come from those without a government. They stand alone and frustrated despite enjoying the various benefits provided by the administration,” she said at an Information Ministry’s Meet the Clients Day programme here on Tuesday.
Azizah said the Government realised that more was needed to be done like providing stable water and electricity supply to the interior areas to enable residents there to live comfortably.
For the housing needs of those in the low-income bracket, the Government would build more affordable homes, she said.
She urged the people of the Kuala Penyu state constituency represented by Independent assemblyman Datuk John Ghani to extend their support to the BN candidate during the coming general election.
“I am confident that people of Kuala Penyu will be united to ensure a victory for the BN candidate,” she said.
Commenting on the programme, Azizah said that all the agencies and departments under the Information Ministry played a crucial role in informing the people about the Government’s policies and mission.
She hoped the inclusion of events related to the country’s independence into the programme would further promote the patriotic spirit among Malaysians. – Bernama
