FRENCHMAN Jean-Francois Lucquin took time off from his hectic schedule to share his experience with friends from the Malaysian media during the Alstom golf clinic at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club recently.
The 29-year-old Lucquin, who was born on Christmas Day in 1978, spent almost three hours with about 30 members of the media.
He gave the participants tips at the driving range, putting green and bunker.
Makkal Osai group general manager S.M. Periasamy was impressed with Lucquin's skills at the driving range.
“He has some excellent shots. He is also a good entertainer as he showed some tricks at the range. I am not a good golfer but I enjoyed the session very much,'' said Periasamy.
The golf clinic was organised by Alstom Power Asia Pacific to bring together Lucquin and the Malaysian media.
Alstom Power Asia Pacific country president Saji Raghavan said they viewed golf as a shared platform with their business partners and media.
“In this case, we initiated the golf clinic to enhance the game of golf and the name of Alstom in Malaysia. We also took advantage of Lucquin's presence in Malaysia. The golf clinic was also our way of saying thanks to the local media,'' said Saji.
Lucquin is in Malaysia for the ongoing US$1.29m Maybank Malaysian Open golf championship at the Saujana Golf and Country.
He has an impressive record in the European Tour. He is currently ranked 51. In the recent Abu Dhabi Masters in Qatar, he was tied at fifth spot.
Lucquin said he was pleased to share his experience with the Malaysian media.
“I did not expect such a reception. I had a good time,'' he said.
