Share-A-Gift fest nets RM75,000 for charity

MALAYSIANS who participated in the MPH Share-A-gift Charity Carnival held on Dec 16 at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur helped raise RM75,000 for charity. 

The carnival was organised to assist less fortunate children from 50 welfare homes around Malaysia get good reading materials. 

Aside from the cash, children from all participating homes each received a book from generous Malaysians. 

Home managers from Rumah Ozanam, Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah and Agathians Shelter represented the 50 welfare homes in receiving the mock cheque from MPH chief operating officer Patricia Chen.

The ceremony was also attended by six lucky winners from the public who won prizes sponsored by several private corporations. 

The prizes were part of a lucky draw for those who made the effort to attend the MPH Share-A-gift Charity Carnival. 

“We must remember that Share-A-Gift is a programme which will not succeed without the involvement of the public and caring corporate organisations,” said MPH Bookstores marketing manager Renee Koh. 

The grand prize winner of the carnival was Chong Wai Fun, who walked away with a Tokyo Disney Special package for two persons sponsored by Japan Airlines and JALPak Malaysia. 

Second and third prize went to Sim Li Leng and Zulainah Sain, who received a holiday package to Club Med Bali for two persons and Club Med Cherating for two persons respectively. 

Koh also acknowledged the main corporate sponsors Japan Airlines, JALPak Malaysia, Wyeth, CIMB Bank, RHB Securities, MPH Distributors, Scholastic, Clarins, Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur, Club Med, Pilot Pen and Ribena.
