PARENTS have pledged to serve as volunteers during competitions organised by the Squash Rackets Association of Selangor (SRAS).
Several parents had voiced their interest at the SRAS Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently. Datuk Mohamed Aini Taib, who was re-elected as the president for the eighth team, welcomed the parents' participation in their activitiees.
Mohamed Aini said he was happy with the encouraging response from parents.
“I had always stressed that parents have a big role to play in the promotion of sports and squash in particular. Without their sacrifices and support, it would be difficult for us to initiate development programmes. The parents are the ones sending the children for regular training sessions.
“Now their commitment has certainly motivated us to organise more events for our younger players. They can serve as volunteers in our next competition - the Milo -Selangor Inter-team junior squash championships in December,'' said Mohamed Aini.
At the AGM, Datuk Mohamed Aini, who took charge of SRAS in 1990, said they would also be taking part in several competitions organised by Squash Rackets Association of Malaysia (SRAM).
The competitions include the National Inter-state championships on Nov 2-5; national Under-11 championships on Nov 10-12; Ong Beng Hee and Nicol David Cup competition on Nov 17-22, National Junior championships on Dec 11-16 and National Elite Camp on Nov 24-29.
Mohamed Aini said they needed the parents to serve as officials during the events.
