IT was Saturday Night Fever at Fort Cornwallis in Penang when excited partygoers thronged the place for the StarFrens All Night Dance Party with star artistes from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Malaysia.
The night started with a group of four young energetic singer-cum-dancers performing two hot songs. Their act was spiced up with their acrobatic dance moves.
After a magic show, Starfrens.com founder Benji Moroshita Chiang, the host and organiser, introduced invited artistes that included Taiwan pop singer Landy, Hong Kong TVB series hot faces Paul Chun Pui and Michael Tong Man Lung, Hong Kong actor Mark Cheng, Japanese singer Lesley, local artiste Island, NTV7 hosts Keiko and Keizo and Hong Kong group ‘The Invisible Men’.
The crowd cheered and clapped when sexy lass Landy, clad in a short body-hugging pink dress, came on stage belting out many of her songs, including some slow pieces like Zhu wo sheng ri kuai le (Happy Birthday to Me) and Lan se yu (Blue Rain).
However, the highlight of the night was when Landy, also known as the Taiwan dancing goddess, wowed the audience with her famous twist and shake dance movements while rendering some hot Mandarin songs.
Japanese singer Lesley, who will introduce her debut album next year came on next.
She performed two new Japanese songs including ‘You’re Ok’ which she composed.
Paul Chun Pui and the muscular actor Michael Tong Mun Lung, both familiar faces to all Hong Kong series lovers, were a hit among ladies, old and young, who cheered on the two.
Deejays Sam, Jeff and Mona from the party’s official radio station – Chinese radio station 988 – also joined in the fun to give out goody bags to the audience.
Audience members taking part in lucky draws won vou-chers and products by sponsors such as Vanessa Diamonds, Ice-ice Baby and Flame Steamboat.
At about 11pm, guest deejays Tszpun and Miss Mighty Minx from Hong Kong spun many techno and hot songs to continue the dance party well into the night.
