CITY HALL will inform Bandar Tasik Selatan residents and motorists of changes to traffic flow in the area within two months' time.
During a meeting held at Menara Tun Razak recently, City Hall's Urban Transportation Department sought the motorists' opinions on how to improve the traffic system, which they blame for causing woes and inconvenience in the area.
The 13 residents who attended the meeting proposed that Jalan 9/146 be opened to traffic but close Jalan 16/146-Jalan Jalan 10/146 junction.
Currently, motorists from Jalan 11/146 and Jalan 10/146 are only allowed to make a left turn onto Jalan 9/146 and U-turn near SK Desa Tasik to access Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).
The residents also suggested that Jalan 11/146-Jalan 17/146 junction be opened to inflow and outflow traffic to reduce traffic using Jalan 10/146 to go to MRR2.
Soo Oi Khuan, who was present at the meeting, said City Hall made several changes about a year ago to the previous traffic system in the area but the current system was not well received by the residents.
“Earlier, Jalan 11/146 and Jalan 17/146 were opened for exit and entry. But City Hall closed the exits and residents were mad as they could not exit the residential roads to get to MRR2,” she said.
Soo said the residents present were informed that the department would call for another meeting within two months to let them know of the latest proposal.
She said as many as 103 signatures have been gathered from residents and a memorandum on a proposal for a change to the traffic flow was submitted to the department about a year ago.
City Hall had requested the residents to gather at least two residents from each affected roads to attend the following meeting.
Residents there rely on Jalan 9/146 and Jalan 21/146 as the only access roads to MRR2.
