Gazetting of rivers to protect dugongs


JOHOR BARU: Seven rivers and swamps in Johor are being gazetted under the Ramsar List of Wetlands to protect sea grass, an important food source for the dugong, a large marine mammal threatened by extinction. 

Johor National Parks Corporation (PTNJ) director Onn Jabar @ Jaafar said the gazette process was expected to be completed this year.
