COME for a night of dinner, music and songs featuring the renowned Dama orchestra on Aug 11 at the Klang Executive Club and help Hospice Klang provide free palliative care services to cancer patients.
With monthly operating expenditure reaching RM12,000, Hospice Klang always finds it a challenge to keep their books in the black while conducting home visits; maintaining outpatient care at their centre in Jalan Sri Sarawak, Klang, and providing free diapers and medicine for the needy.
Hospice Klang wants to employ two more nurses in the next two years and a full-time doctor for its home-visit programme.
It also plans to have more outpatient clinics. At present, the centre only operates such a clinic on Saturday mornings with the help of three volunteer doctors.
If the centre has more money, the administrators aim to buy more equipment - including oxygen concentrators and special beds to be loaned to patients.
The centre hopes to raise RM150,000 through the charity musical night.
Table invitations are available at RM3,000; RM2,000, RM1,500 and RM1,200. All donations are tax-exempted.
Donations in other forms include sponsorship in the souvenir programme book starting from RM10,000.
The Dama orchestra is an exponent of traditional Chinese instrumental music.
The musicians have performed in international world music festivals, including the Rainforest World Music Festival as well as the Silk and Bamboo Music Festival.
