FIRST there was Ikea, then Ikano Power Centre, Tesco Hypermarket and The Curve joined the neighbourhood. And now, Cineleisure is the latest mall to open in the Mutiara Damansara neighbourhood.

The complex, which opened recently, combines lifestyle shopping, entertainment and leisure - everything that youth - which is its target group - want.

“Cineleisure Damansara is the first of its kind in Malaysia.

“The key word 'Cineleisure' refers to cinema and leisure.

“It represents a unique blend of leisure lifestyle and retail mix that binds together with the concept of entertainment,” said Cineleisure Damansara centre manager Ryzarul Azlan Abdul Rahim.

Cineleisure is thelatest mall in theMutiaraDamansaraneighbourhood.

The mall emulates Cathay Cineleisure Orchard in Singapore.

The new mall's design and facilities centres on the needs of those aged between 14 and 35. However, it also welcomes children and those who are young at heart.

A joint venture between Boustead Holdings Berhad and Cathay Organisation Holdings, Cineleisure is a seven-storey mall that comprises five entertainment and lifestyle floors, including a 10-cinema cineplex, and two levels of parking with about 1,000 parking lots. It offers lifestyle retail shopping, restaurants, casual dining as well as a games arcade, cyber gaming and a 24-lane bowling centre.

“It is a cool place for youths and we are planning a lot of activities for them,” he said.

The management even plans to have 20 dedicated parking bays near the parking entrance door for women drivers.

Azlan added that the mall was developed around a motion picture theme, and the main tenant was the Cathay Cineplex.

Patrons can get a sneak preview of the movies being screened in the preview room and upon purchasing their tickets on the ground floor, proceed to the mezzanine floor while waiting for the screening.

“The 10 screening halls can seat between 87 and 600 people each.

According to Azlan, the mall was developed around a motion picture theme, and the main tenant isthe Cathay Cineplex.

“We even have a kacang putih stall where customers can buy tidbits before the movie,” he said.

The cineplex will also take movie-going experience one step further with its drive-through ticketing counter that allows those on the move to purchase their tickets faster without having to park their cars. Currently, patrons can book their tickets online up to 21 days in advance.

Azlan said patrons would also enjoy a new experience with the completion of the state-of-the-art AV Tunnel. The specially built tunnel, said to be the first in the country, will bring movies to life with its 3D effects.

He said public could enjoy the facility for free when the tunnel is completed at the end of this month.

Other future attractions include E2MAX, the latest and most sophisticated gaming facility, with over 150 PCs and gaming consoles to do battle with friends and foes.

There is also a gaming platform, built to jut out in a balcony-like structure, so gamers can play their game on the big screen for the whole mall to see.

Azlan added that when completed, the Cineleisure complex would also have activity centres where various activities like skateboarding and rollerblading can be held.
