Wesak Day celebration 

Kuantan Buddhist Association has planned dhamma talks, special prayers, the lighting of lamps and a procession around the Bukit Ubi Pahang Buddhist Association grounds. On Wesak Day, there will be prayers and the bathing of the Buddha statue in the main shrine. For the young, there will be a colouring contest, quizzes, musical performances, video shows and exhibitions on Budhha’s teachings. The association is also hosting a self-service vegetarian lunch between 11.30am and 2pm today. 

 

Residents get-together 

Stampin BDC Association will hold a “Malam Hiburan” at the carpark in front of the BDC Everrise supermarket in Kuching tomorrow for residents from the BDC housing area for a fun-filled night of songs and dances from 7pm onwards. Lucky draw prizes of hampers and electrical appliances will also be given away. Residents in the vicinity are advised to come early to claim their lucky draw tickets. Public forum 

Hospital Pantai Ayer Keroh will hold a free public forum entitled Total Oral-facial Reconstruction at 2pm tomorrow at its conference room. For details, call Ng at 06-231 9999. 

 

Health check-up package 

In conjunction with International Family Day and Teacher’s Day, Hospital Pantai Ayer Keroh will be promoting its general health check-up package until the end of next month. Priced at RM258, the package consists of a thorough physical examination and report, a comprehensive blood, liver and renal test, a chest X-ray, an ECG and two cancer tests. Buffet special 

Pulai Springs Resort is offering The Pulai Longest Buffet that features more that a hundred dishes including all-time favourites such as nasi briyani, murtabak, lar mien, shepherd’s pie, beef stroganoff and prawn sambal. Rainforest music 

The 9th Rainforest World Music Festival at Sarawak Cultural Village on July 7-9 will feature 10 international groups from Africa, Asia, Europe and North and Latin America as well as several local groups, including the Malaysian Dhol Federation from Kuala Lumpur. The groups will take to the stage for nightly concerts and conduct two workshop sessions in the afternoons. Tickets for the festival are now available at Visitors’ Information Centres in Kuching (082-410 944), Sibu (084-340 980) and Miri (085-434 180).
