The goodness of herbs

PARTAKE of the goodness of Chinese herbal cuisine at The Emperor, Sheraton Subang Hotel & Towers throughout this month. Chinese herbs have been proven to be good for one's health and for this promotion, chef Louie Hoi will be preparing 11 dishes using various herbs, particularly huai san, wolfberry, tong kwai (dongquai), ginseng, dried mandarin orange and red dates. One of chef's recommendations is Wok-fried Ostrich with Huai San and Dried Chilli (chicken, beef and prawns can also be prepared in this way). “Huai san is anti-ageing and helps lower blood pressure as well as blood sugar. It is rich in vitamins B1, B2 and C, calcium, phosphorus, iron, protein, saponins and choline,” Hoi says, adding that the herb has a neutral energy and builds up the qi of the spleen for improved digestion and metabolism. It is also good for the lungs and helps if one has bouts of coughing, and is effective, too, in treating diarrhoea. Other dishes include Stir-fried Seafood (Scallop/Prawn) with Wolfberries and Honey Bean, and Tong Kwai with Cinnamon Crab. The herbal cuisine is priced from RM22 per dish and is available for lunch and dinner. The outlet also offers All-You-Can-Eat Dim Sum, featuring more than 25 varieties of the dainty morsels, at RM52++per person; Chinese Rice Wine priced from RM118++ to RM155++ per bottle; and The Emperor's Healthy Living Mocktails in six unique blends, available daily priced from RM16++ per glass.
