A 15-member Cuban band led by “The Quincy Jones of Cuba” Juan De Marcos Gonzalez will be performing at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur on Friday to raise funds for a children’s home in Seremban.

De Marcos, the force behind the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, will perform a 90-minute free-standing performance.

His 15-piece band, dubbed the Afro Cuban All Stars, will be performing in aid of the Tunku Nurul Hayati Foundation, which runs the Rumah Penyayang home for underprivileged children's home in Rasah, Seremban.

Foundation chairman Naresh Mohan said De Marcos was sure to captivate the audience with his explosive performance, transforming old styles to new and jazz to bolero.

“The performance will be the epitome of what Cuban music has always been renowned for,” he said during a press conference at Rumah Penyayang last Thursday.

Also present were the foundation’s advisor Tunku Nurul Hayati and Cuban Ambassador to Malaysia Pedro Monzon.

The event is co-organised by Trinidad Group of Companies and Best Western Hotel Sdn Bhd.

Tickets for the show are available through a donation of RM120 inclusive of a drink.
