EXPOMAL International Sdn Bhd, the organiser of the Smart Kids 2006 exhibition, is sponsoring 1,400 copies of Kuntum magazine and 6,000 copies of The Star newspaper for distribution to visitors to the exhibition at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
Expomal public relations and project assistant manager Eileen Chew said the decision to sponsor The Star and Kuntum was due to the fact that the publications reached out not only to adults but also to youngsters.
“This is the first time that we are sponsoring The Star and Kuntum. .
“By sponsoring these publications, we hope to promote the reading habit among the children,” she said after the Kuntum-The Star sponsorship presentation in Petaling Jaya on Friday.
Also present were Kuntum editor Datin Amelia Kassim and Star Publications (M) Bhd circulation manager Jimmy Poey Yee Meng.
Meanwhile, Amelia said there would be a Kuntum Talent Search for children from six to 12 years old.
“The children can sing, dance, perform gymnastics, recite poems, tell stories or perform anything they like on a stage set up at the exhibition.”
Parents would also be able to subscribe to Kuntum magazine at the Star-Kuntum booth during the exhibition, she added. Kuntum is the best-selling children's magazine nationwide.
Kuntum mascot Si Pintar and the Smart Kids mascot will be also making a special appearance at the exhibition.
