Reveal accounts to the people, leaders urge council

The debate on whether the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council’s (MPPJ) detailed accounts should be revealed or not still hangs heavy in the air. MPPJ president Datuk Ahmad Termizi Puteh has defended the council’s decision on reserving the right to not allow the accounts to be scrutinised by the public. But, residents are adamant and claim that it is their right to see the accounts. VIVIENNE PAL and K.W. MAK find out what the people’s elected representatives have to say on the matter.

TO SHOW or not to show MPPJ’s detailed accounts seems to be the issue that has gotten both the council and residents of Petaling Jaya in a bind, of late.
