SP SETIA Berhad's efforts in landscaping and beautifying its projects were once again recognised by the Government when the developer won two top prizes in the inaugural Best of the Best National Landscape Awards 2005 competition recently.
The company's Johor Baru projects, Setia Indah and Bukit Indah, emerged the champion and runner-up respectively in the Neighbourhood Park category, edging out other past winners in similar competitions such as Taman Cyberjaya and Taman Bukit Rimba Kiara.
Setia Indah and Bukit Indah had previously won the National Landscape Award in 2002 and 2001 in the same category.
The 6.9ha (17acre) Setia Indah and 7.3ha (18acre) Bukit Indah townparks were judged the winners based on their high standards of upkeep and upgrading, catering to the recreational needs of the local community.
SP Setia group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Liew Kee Sin received the awards at a prize presentation ceremony held in conjunction with National Landscape Day from Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting recently.
“We are indeed honoured to receive these awards as it shows that the Government recognises the effort that SP Setia has invested in building extensive green lungs in our townships,” he said.
“These awards will motivate us to develop more green areas where the community can come together to foster neighbourly ties,” Liew said.
“Contributing towards the overall development of our country is the key responsibility of a developer, but to create vibrant communities where Man and Nature co-exist in harmony is our moral obligation,” he dded.
Liew said the company had always held firm to its philosophy of giving back to the people through providing well-planned facilities and amenities in all its townships.
With the latest awards, SP Setia has garnered a total of 10 state- and national-level landscaping awards in the past five years.
