“We need a lot of financial support to make the championships a success. Once again we are delighted to have Milo as our main partners in making the programmes a success. Milo has been with us for more than 30 years.

“They have been loyal supporters and we certainly appreciate the partnership,'' said Abdul Hamid after receiving the sponsorship from Nestlé Products sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong.

Ng said they are committed to development at grassroots and schools are the place to do so.

“We hope to see more Malaysians making an impact in international competitions. And the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) championship would always serve as a stepping-stone for budding young athletes,'' said Ng.

The two internationals to be hosted by Malaysia are the Asian Schools hockey championship and the Asean Schools sepak takraw championship.

The hockey competition will be held in Kuantan, Pahang from Sept 7 to 14 while the sepak takraw championship will be in Penang from Aug 1to 8.

Abdul Hamid said Malaysia would also be the Asean Schools Sports Council (ASSC) ' s secretariat for this year and next.

It was Indonesia's turn but they were unable to accept.

As such Malaysia were next on the list.

The 2006 ASSC's management committee meeting will be held in Putrajay from Dec 4 to 7.
