Adventurer leads pupils in charity hike

MORE than 1,000 primary school pupils had the opportunity to hike up the Cangkat Sungai Ara 2 trail in Penang with the first South-East Asian to scale the world's Seven Summits, the highest peaks on the world's seven con-tinents.

Professional adventurer Khoo Swee Chiow, who is also the only South-East Asian to reach an altitude of 8,415m on Mount Everest without the aid of oxygen, led the children up the trail during the SJK (C) Kwang Hwa Hike-Tone 2006 fund-raising drive on a bright Saturday morning recently.
