MCA division effort nets RM100,000 for building fund

THE Batu Gajah MCA division’s quest to raise RM450,000 to buy a new building in Pusing, Batu Gajah, received a boost when it raised RM100,000 at a dinner.

Division chief Loh Koi Pin said they had so far raised RM250,000, including the latest amount, and were now short of RM150,000 to acquire a double-storey shoplot in Pu-sing.

“We have also received a contribution of RM50,000 from our vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn,” he said after the dinner at SJK (C) Wan Hwa in Menglembu recently.

Dr Fong and Dr Mah Hang Soon, who represented state MCA chairman Datuk Ong Ka Chuan, were among guests who attended the dinner.

Loh said the division would be moving into the new building soon.

“The owner has agreed to allow us to move into the building although we have not paid for it in full,” he said, adding that the owner had given them nine months to settle the payment.

“We will be organising several fund-raising projects next year to settle the balance,” he said.

Loh, who thanked the guests for attending the dinner, said: ”Without your support, the event will not be successful.”

He also said the division would organise activities which would benefit the residents of Batu Gajah.

Dr Fong, in his speech, advised division members to be united.

“Show the people that we are united so they will have the confidence to vote for us,” he said.
