Only RM1.5mil has been utilised this year from the Fishermens Fund of RM6.7mil, far short of the state target, Sabah Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail said on Monday.
Among the factors that led to poor demand for the fund obtainable through the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board was inadequate information on the RM25,000 loan available for each fisherman, he said after opening the Kota Kinabalu Fishermen Associations first annual general meeting in Kota Kinabalu.
