TAIPING: A man has been fined RM300 for entering the Taiping Zoo without a ticket.
Azwan Yusri Ahmad,24, of Kampung Boyan, here pleaded guilty to a charge of trespassing and paid the fine yesterday.
Prosecuting officer Chief Insp Azman Khamis told magistrate Mohd Kafli, that the accused and another man still at large were caught by zoo staff Ramli Mustafa outside the enclo- sure for tigers at 9.50pm on Nov 10.
Ramli in his report said he and a colleague saw the two men acting strangely. They gave chase when the duo started running.
Ramli managed to apprehend Azwan Yusri but the other escaped.
Commenting on the case, Taiping zoo director Dr Kevin Lazarus said he had instructed his men to be on the lookout for suspicious characters following a break-in at the zoo’s canteen a few weeks earlier.
