Requests from neighbourhood Rukun Tetangga (RT) committees in Sarawak for monetary allowances to be paid to voluntary patrol unit members have been rejected.
The National Unity and Integration Department headquarters in Kuala Lumpur has decided that members serving in RT units should not be accorded financial benefits, as this would defeat the purpose of having such voluntary patrols.
