Three-day reunion for USM alumni

CALLING all Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) alumni of the 1970s. 

A three-day Balikampus reunion will he held for the graduates beginning Sept 2 at USM campus in Penang.  

Among those alumni expected to attend attend the reunion are Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Idris Jusoh, Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Zainal Abidin Zin, Deputy Internal Security Minister Chia Kwang Chye and Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Wira Ali Rustam. 

Acting Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mahdzir Khalid, who is also the university’s alumnus, will be the guest of honour. 

Organising committee chairman Dr Mohammad Zin Nordin, who is also USM’s School of Communication dean, said this was the first time a gathering was being held for the university’s pioneer batch of the 1970s, adding that those who gra- duated after the 1980s were also invited to attend. 

Various activities, including football and netball matches, would be held between alumni members and the university’s current students, he said. 

He said there would also be a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a new building for the alumni at USM. 

Registration for the reunion closes today.
