It was an evening of shoulder rolls, hip shimmies and “snake arms” as the dancers, both professional and amateur, took to the dance floor to revive the ancient art of raks sharki, better known as belly dancing.
The get-together, known in Arabic as haflah, comprised mainly women and featured professional belly dancer and instructor Sherlyn Koh guiding guests step-by-step through the various movements of the sensuous and exotic dance.
