Perlis officers on video conferencing mission

By EDWARD RAJENDRA

A GROUP of six officers from the Perlis state secretariat information technology unit paid their Selangor counterparts a visit recently to exchange ideas on the best ways to use video conferencing together with information technology.

The delegation was led by Perlis State Economic Planning Unit IT unit assistant director Mohd Zaki Abdul Rahman.

The Perlis officers were briefed on Selangor’s IT infrastructure.

Present at the briefing was Selangor state secretariat IT chief Rosni Ali Mokhtar.

Mohd Zaki said the unit had chosen three states – Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Selangor – for their fact-finding mission aimed at understanding how video conferencing was used in other states.

“Our aim is to gain more knowledge in this area.

“It’ll be good because video conferencing will help our staff source for more information pertaining to their field of work from neighbouring states from within the confines of their office,” he said.

He added that the team would visit Malacca and Negri Sembilan before heading back to Perlis.

Mohd Zaki said the visit to Selangor was also to come up with a benchmark for IT development in Perlis.

“We are aware that Selangor is far ahead in IT and we want to catch up in this arena,” he said.
