Leave frozen for Selangor cops ahead of Deepavali, Asean Summit

‎KLANG: All Selangor police personnel have had their leave frozen ahead of the Deepavali celebration and the 47th Asean Summit next week, says Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar.

The Selangor police chief added that police will carry out special operations in conjunction with the festive celebration statewide to ensure crimes like house break-ins and vehicle thefts do not occur.

"We have focus areas and will not conduct operations arbitrarily. We have identified these hotspots based on studies carried out in targeted areas," he told reporters when met after the Walkabout with Little India Entrepreneurs programme in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration at Jalan Tengku Kelana here Thursday (Oct 16).

Comm Shazeli said they will operate at full force, with over 15,000 personnel, to ensure public peace is at the highest level.

He also encouraged the public to make use of the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application to channel information and make reports to the police in crime prevention. - Bernama
