Fire and Rescue Dept delivers 25 tonnes of food supplies to six Orang Asli posts


GUA MUSANG: The Air Unit of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department has continued with its mission to deliver 25 tonnes of food supplies to six Orang Asli posts beginning Monday (Jan 23).

Subang Central Region Base operations commander Senior Fire Supt II Wahyudi Mohd Sayuhti said the operation has been resumed after experiencing delays due to continuous heavy rain in the (Orang Asli) settlements since Friday (Jan 20).

"Yesterday's (Monday) operation began at 10am and involved two helicopters namely the Agusta A109E and Agusta Westland AW189.

"A total of 5.9 tonnes of food was successfully delivered to Kampung Gawin and Kampung Gob in Pos Gob, Kampung Jader and Kampung Ladoi in Pos Simpor, as well as Kampung Sempadik in Pos Belatim,” he told reporters at the Gua Musang District Council multipurpose complex field, here, Tuesday (Jan 24).

He said the delivery of food supplies will continue as there is currrently good weather.

"Regardless of the situation, we remain committed in carrying out the tasks entrusted to us in this kind of situation," he also said.

"This operation this time involves the cooperation of the Gua Musang JBPM, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA)," he added. - Bernama
