I HAVE long advocated that Malaysian businesses must innovate and invest in technology so that we can move out of this low-wage, low-cost and low-productivity model resulting in over six million foreign workers in the country. This in turn stifles domestic demand as local workers do not have enough purchasing power.
Other countries have moved so far ahead of us that they are now grappling with a higher issue – advanced robotics and the threat it poses to job creation.
