RECENTLY, I was invited to an event in a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur and I was shocked to see the number of foreign staff there, from the concierge to the banquet hall wait staff.

In the banquet hall, I saw about 10 young foreign men in their 20s, adorned in our local batik attire, waiting to attend to the guests.
