LIKE the rest of the civilised world, my stomach churned looking at the still images of the young Jordanian POW burnt alive in a cage by IS, a hate group that’s now no longer a political organisation but a despotic death cult.

In spite of the summary executions that IS traditionally commits in the name of religion, this one went too far. Maybe the fact that the victim was a pilot gave me a sense of solidarity with him throughout the shocking turn of events.
