LOYAL fans of The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup (TSSC) annual football tie were shown appreciation from the organisers during a special ticket presentation ceremony last weekend.

Twenty fan clubs and associations were given over 15, 000 tickets ahead of the highly anticipated match between Selangor and Singapore which is set to take place on Aug 24.

The tickets were allocated according to the number of members in each club and this year, it included welfare homes as well.

Hundreds of fans from Selangor attended the event at SACC Mall in Shah Alam, which was part of the organising committee promotional tour.

The event got off to an exhilarating start which saw the Kingz Motorcycle Group and their 21 Harley-Davidson escort organising chairman Tan Sri Abdul Karim Munisar as he arrived to meet the club members.

To drum up support and excitement, there was also a special ticket sales promotion just for the day which saw a steady stream of fans making their purchase.

At the event, tickets were on sale at a promotional price of RM10 for two tickets while the TSSC limited-edition T-shirt was sold at RM25 each while the lucky draw prizes of a brand-new Harley-Davidson Iron 833 and Honda City on display for this year’s competition caught the attention of many curious onlookers. So far, ticket sales have been going strong with 40, 000 out of 70, 000 sold.

Abdul Karim said the supporters that were part of the special ceremony included Selangor’s most loyal football supporters.

“We also included welfare homes this year as part of our promotional activities because they deserve a chance to enjoy themselves and watch the football matches, ” he said after presenting some 500 tickets to the representatives.

Abdul Karim noted that 40 buses from Singapore have been filled which will ferry supporters across the causeway for the match.

“It will be a big night for football fans as we have planned for a grand event filled with entertainment, fireworks and a surprise opening gimmick.

He added that this would set the tone for the night as Selangor aimed to defend all three titles for this year’s clash.

At the Shah Alam Stadium last year, Selangor swept all three cups with the Selangor Selection and Veterans beating their counterparts on penalties while the Under-16 school boys delivered a thrilling 2-0 victory.

This first match of the 18th edition will see the Singapore-Selangor Schools Challenge feature students in the Under-15 age group instead of 16 from last year, followed by the curtain-raiser between the veterans before the main match.

Tickets are priced at RM10 and are on sale at Uncle K outlets in SACC Mall Shah Alam, Paradigm Mall Kelana Jaya and Cyberjaya and the Shah Alam Aquatic Centre as well as the Shah Alam Stadium on match day.
