Aspiring actress‘ beauty brand achieves RM1mil turnover in two years

Izubiela Rasi is like a walking billboard. When the aspiring actress launched her beauty line DBella by Izubiella two years ago, her 20,000 Facebook followers supported her business and made the products a hit within a short time.

“It is an honour when my fans say I am a walking example of my products.

“Since I love everything that is aesthetic, I spend a lot of time enhancing my skincare, make-up, haircare and clothes,” said the 28-year-old business management graduate who also has a Diploma in Aesthetics.

With her husband Muhammad Muzaffar Marekan as the managing director of Izubiela Enterprise assisting her with the marketing and a good supporting team, Izubiela can focus on how to entice her fans and customers.

Prior to this, Izubiela was running an online business selling eye pencils produced by another brand.

The RM15 eye pencils were such a hit that within six months, Izubiela was already thinking of venturing into other online businesses like cosmetics and clothing.

Within a year, she had enough money to start her own beauty brand.

She then conducted research and tested some ingredients to get the best remedy for a flawless skin.

Izubiela then set up her own research and development team and invested all of her RM40,000 savings to get DBella by Izubiela off the ground.

The four products under the brand include DBella Premium Collagen, Pil Puteh Gebu DBella, Scrub Gebu DBella and Lotion Perfume DBella.

“The bestseller is our collagen.

“Priced at RM100 each, the collagen is made of berries, honey and permissible collagen ingredients, which has many benefits for the skin, hair, nails and joints,” said Muzaffar.

An OEM factory manufactures DBella products which are stored in a warehouse in Penang.

“Since we sell direct to consumers via online, where we store the products is not a problem.

“Our expansion plan is in the pipeline and we hope to transform our online-only brand to possibly a home shopping site.

“But before that happens, we have to take into account the company’s logistics and the distributors’ network,” said Muzaffar, a former insurance agent.

DBella has grown significantly since its inception.

“We used to sell 1,000 units of each product, but the number has since increased six fold.

“At times, we find it hard to cope with the demand so we are looking at increasing our production capacity.

“We hope to have our own factory to produce DBella products,” said Izubiela.

The turnover of her business has been encouraging, charting close to RM1mil late last year.

“Since we only operate DBella through online business and stockists, transactions are much simpler.

“Our stockists only need to replenish the products fortnightly,” said Izubiela who swears by the Scrub Gebu DBella.

“Not only does it smell good and refreshing, it is gentle on the skin.

“After cleansing, you can apply the ultra-rich scrub.

“The natural pink-coloured astringent in the scrub will minimise the appearance of pores and give your skin a better complexion.

“You can use it on the face and the body.

“The scrub will do wonders for the skin as it will keep it hydrated,” said Izubiela, who is also a professional make-up artist.

The RM65 scrub is made of strawberry yoghurt and a mixture of whitening booster cream.

Today, Izubiela is not only an up-and-coming actress and singer, her successful venture into business has given her financial stability as well.

Understandably, she is now more selective and will choose her roles in dramas.

“Apart from the products, it is important to feel good about yourself.

“This inner feeling will reflect on the outside, on your skin.

“That is what real beauty is all about,” said Izubiela who hopes to expand her own fashion line and cosmetics business soon.
