Internet traffic in Malaysia up by almost 60%

Chiew says OTT players such as Netflix, iFlix and online TV and radio channels are contributing to the growth in Internet traffic.

MALAYSIA’S Internet data exchange rose 57% year-on-year to a peak of 170Gbps last August, according to the Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX).

The figure is the highest recorded in the country’s history and is in line with the rapid rise of Malaysia’s Internet traffic, MyIX said.
