Edox Iceman Chronoffshore-1

If you are an adrenaline junkie, Swiss watchmaker Edox may have just the thing for your rough-and-tumble activities: the Edox Chronoffshore-1.

Edox, a brand dedicated to the world of motorsports and watersports, offers watches with more than 130 years of innovation and watchmaking tradition. Their Choronoffshore-1 is built to keep ticking in extreme temperatures and conditions, and as such, is perfect even for the most active of lifestyles.

Imagine diving in bone-chilling, -2°C water under a frozen Austrian alpine lake.

That would be too daunting, even impossible for many people. But champion free-diver Christian Redl took on this challenge and pulled off the feat without an oxygen tank on Feb 26.

While free-diving, Redl had only the Edox watch for company — apart, that is, from the 2mm-thick Neoprene wetsuit he wore as insulation from the cold. There’s a reason why people call him The Iceman.

His watch was equal to the challenge as well. Built to resist water up to 500m, the Edox Chronoffshore-1 collection is a state-of-the-art series of modern divers watches engineered for nautical champions.

Redl all geared up for his record-setting free-dive in a frozen Austrian alpine lake.

The extra-thick, 3mm sapphire crystal glass that come with these watches guarantees an added layer of “toughness”. It ensures that no matter how difficult or extreme the weather conditions may be, the rugged timepieces will still function perfectly.

Edox is also Sauber F1 Team’s Premium Partner, and the brand is also the official time-keeper of the Dakar Rally. — By FIONA YOON
