Soo explaining the functions of the free Electrical Monitoring software at a media briefing in Petaling Jaya.

SCHNEIDER Electric Malaysia has launched its free Electrical Monitoring software to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) utilise efficient energy usage.

The web-based software helps businesses track real-time power conditions and minimise business downtime to increase productivity.

Schneider Electric Malaysia country president Soo Pow Leong explained how Electrical Monitoring could increase business productivity.

“For example, a food and beverage (F&B) factory would be able to pinpoint the exact source of a problem without wasting time hunting high and low for it. For instance, a water pump that was tripped overnight can be easily identified the next morning. Businesses will immediately know the source of the problem and proceed to rectify it, minimising the factory’s outage time,” Soo said.

The software can also analyse the energy consumption of individual components to determine whether or not they need to be repaired or replaced.

In addition, Electrical Monitoring will provide status updates on the business’ power breaker via email notifications, and depending on which telco, SMS notifications, too.

The web-based software can be set up over wireless or wired Internet connections.

Only entities that are currently using Schneider components can use this software for free, while non-Schneider component users would require incurring engineering costs up to RM100,000 to set up.

Businesses can also opt for future upgrades for more complex monitoring software should they wish to do so.

“As a leader in energy management, we are delighted to offer this entry-level monitory tool to our customers. Since the solution is future-proof, when the facility is ‘matured’ enough for an upgrade, it can be easily done,” Soo concluded.
